Renewable World

The Virtual Growing Schools GardenWant to know more about renewables but don’t know who to ask? Try The Renewable World, a website grounded in good-quality science, and offering an innovative way into this sometimes perplexing area.

Students are immediately engaged through an interactive, Top Trumps style game that encourages them to explore the use of renewable and non-renewable materials in the past, present and future. This helps them understand that many of our cheap, oil-based products come at a high environmental cost, and to explore more sustainable options for the future.

Teachers can start by using some of the interactive debating and choices tools to promote thought and discussion around the topic of renewables. Or take advantage of more detailed schemes of work, developed by other education professionals, in a range of subjects.

There are also informative videos from people working in the renewables industry.
